Rustic Roots Farm
Our bees, here at Rustic roots farms, are located in multiple bee yards in Washtenaw County. We over winter about 50 hives each year. Our primary focus for our bees is Honey production. We strive to a high quality of honey by limiting their exposures to treatments and utilizing mite resistant bees.

Availability
- NUCS will be available to pick up in mid to late May 2024
- Splits from local bees will be available Late May thru late July
- Survivor queens from our local hives will be available Late May thru Late July.

How to go about buying a NUC or Queen? - NUCs and Queens will be reserved on a first come first serve basis. There are a limited number of NUCs and Queens available. Both will be allocated on the bases of when checks(money) is received to reserve them.

New Beekeeper program - If you are a new beekeeper we treat you different. If you wish, we will install your NUCs anywhere within 15 miles of our bee yards in Chelsea/Dexter. We will also offer you mentor resources to help get started in your new endeavor. We strive to help new beekeepers be successful in the first and most critical year. Please let us know that you are a new beekeeper when you order.
Shipping - We do not ship our bees. You will need to arrange for pickup or delivery.
Delivery and help installing your bees is available. Contact us to check availability.
NUC configuration - you can arrange at the time that you reserve your bees and their availability wether you want a Medium or Deep NUC. All NUC's will be 5 frame.
Packaging - When you arrive to pick up your NUC's they will be in our 5 frame NUC boxes. You will need to transfer them into your own hive or NUC boxes when you pick them up. If you would like to take our NUC box home please arrange this before you pic up your bees. We have a limited number of boxes that are configured for travel. We also want to make sure these boxes are returned to us in a reasonable period of time. NUC BOXES DO NOT COME WITH THE COST OF THE NUCs
Warranty – All NUCs will have laying brood at the time that they leave our bee yard. If there is a problem please let us know and we will try to help you. However, there is no warranty, implied or otherwise once the hive leaves our premises. You are encouraged to inspect the hive when you pick it up and make sure it is up to the standard that you require.
Deposits – We will not be taking deposits for NUCs this year. We will be placing people on a list and providing NUCs to customers in the order that they were received. The earlier that you place an order the sooner that you will receive your NUCs. Payment will be expected in full before NUCs or queens are picked or delivered.
